Utah Liquor Laws

Ok so I have been talking with my friend about all the stuff that is going on with the Utah Liquor Laws, she thinks that it is good what they are doing, but you know I love her but I totally disagree, I think the LDS Church has a lot to do with it and thats wrong so here is my little tid bit about it.

The church should abstain in sending lobbyists to sway governmental opinion. Does the church not have ENOUGH representation in the house merely by member subscription alone? Maybe instead of attacking legitimate, law abiding citizens through supporting skewed taxation and babysitting laws that do nothing to remedy their "morality quest", they should focus on getting their own house in order and address why Utah is #1 in the country for prescription drug abuse (among other chart-toppers that the church refuses to acknowledge). I suppose the lack of anonymity, and social nature of drinking keeps the spotlight on us sinners, instead of the plethora of member related community issues in dire need of some "lobbyists" and governmental attention. The church of ALL PEOPLE should know, that never, should a family rely on the community to keep their children chaste. This is the responsibility of the parents; who, as unfortunate as it is, are getting lazier and lazier, expecting churches, schools, and social programs to protect their kids. When are we going to learn.... YOU CANT LEGISLATE MORALITY. Utah, per capita, has the highest teen deaths associated with alcohol poisoning, over doses, and one of the fastest growing STD in teen rates in the nation. Of course, if we dont talk about it, it becomes hear no-see no-speak no right? How about the other hand...?? Utah is among the MOST responsible drinking communities in the nation. THE Lowest DWI death statistics... but whatever right.
